What to do

What you'll need from the travel pack

1. Review e-learning technologies

To get an overview of some of the main technologies used for e-learning:

  • Go to the Gallery of strategies and select View all and pick one of these: 'Learning management system' (LMS) or 'Virtual classroom'.
  • View the Samples at the top and then scroll down to find out why, how and with what.
  • Now complete the Gallery webquest .

2. Investigate a sample e-learning design

To look at a sample course:

  • Click the Sample designs tab and pick a box for one of the seven sample designs.
  • Read the summary, then click on the Story and listen to the designer's description of how the course works.
  • Open the Map and check the delivery options used (the horizontal coloured bands).
  • Still on the Map, see if you can identify how many different e-learning strategies are used in this design (for content, activities, support and assessment).
  • Finally, complete the Learning design webquest .

3. Investigate delivery options

Designing an e-learning solution for a training need starts with deciding which delivery options to use.

4. Sample more e-learning tools
