Flexible Learning Toolboxes
Quality suuport materials for blended learning
Content for self-paced e-learning
In corporate and commercial settings internationally, most e-learning content is developed for individual self-paced delivery, with no instructor or facilitator involved. This has proven a cost-effective model for a range of workforce training needs which are mostly about information or knowledge recall, especially for induction, compliance, computer skills (IT) and product knowledge.
Content for facilitated e-learning
In vocational education and training (VET) in Australia, high quality e-learning materials known as Flexible Learning Toolboxes (Toolboxes) have been developed to be support web-based facilitated group learning. Since the materials are aligned to standard outcomes (or competencies) required for national vocational qualifications in Australia, they can be used (and customised) by any training organisation.
Toolboxes are designed as support resources for teachers and trainers, who need to develop the learning sequence around the materials and add collaborative activities, as well as designing the more complex assessment tasks required to demonstrate workplace performance, or competence.
Toolbox materials now come in two formats:
- an integrated learning program incorporating a number of units of competency. These programs are available on a CD-ROM for installation on a server or for use on a stand-alone computer.
- a learning object format allowing users to download smaller self-contained components of content for free. Learning objects generally support an element or unit of competency.
