Methods and tools for collaborative development of content by learners
Rather than creating all the content and resources for your e-learning program yourself, you may consider encouraging your learners to also produce some of the learning resources. This approach encourages learners to take an active role in the learning process, share their ideas and learning with their peers and collaborate on building a group understanding of a topic. Research has found that allowing students to create and share their own content increases their engagement in learning and allows them to develop a sense of achievement and pride in what they have created.
There are several emerging technologies that support the collaborative development and sharing of content. These are called web 2.0 technologies.
