Mature age students will often take to online learning when it is introduced in a graduated and appropriate way. On this page there are 3 examples of projects detailing successes with mature age learners aged 46 and over.
Yidiyu - An e-learning initiative for mature age Aboriginal Community Police Officers 
Northern Territory Police Fire and Emergency Services
Project leader: Katerina Skene
Aboriginal community Police were taught a variety of online skills, from online banking, using the police database, to developing photostories, online video, including video editing. This resulted in a huge range of resources available for both their professional work (for example in evidence gathering) as well as personal story telling.
River Murray Training Pty Ltd Berri SA
Project leader: Barbara McPherson
Rural and remote mature age learners seeking secure alternative work were offered the development of financial and bookkeeping skills. Emphasis was on the social and work context within which this e-learning approach fits. Units taught were linked to local employment and volunteering opportunities.
E-learning for Aged Care
Holmesglen Institute of TAFE VIC
Project leader: Linda Smart
This project targeted mature age learners with English as a Second Language, identifying the need for work related computer and technology skills in Aged Care industry. Learning covered material from the Certificate III in Aged Care in the Grange Care Services Toolbox and TAFEVC online learning platform (Vic state-wide learning management system).
